Hamilton Apartments

On April 1, 2021 the Heritage Calgary board approved the following site to be updated to the Inventory of Evaluated Historic Resources.

John A. Tweddle Residence

Hamilton Apartments
911-921 14 Street SE (Inglewood)
Year Built: 1912

Re-evaluated as a Community Historic Resource

The Hamilton Apartments has person value through the personality of John Harper Hamilton, its original owner from 1912 until his death in 1933. Hamilton was a well-known figure in early Calgary who co-owned Bain & Hamilton’s livery stable. (Person/People Value—Community Significance)

The building has style value as a strong example of Georgian Revival domestic architecture and is a rare example of workers’ terrace housing in Calgary. (Style Value—Community Significance)
