Northern Electric & Manufacturing Co. Warehouse (1913), 102 11 AV SE, Beltline

The 1913 Northern Electric Co. Warehouse possesses symbolic value for Calgary’s early warehouse district located in today’s Beltline community. (Symbolic Value, Community Significance)

The building, designed by William John Carmichael (1867-1927), Chief Architect for Northern Electric’s parent company Bell Telephone from 1917-27, is valued as an example of the Edwardian Classical style used in industry. (Style Value, Community Significance)

The former distribution warehouse and sales offices, purpose-built and operated by Northern Electric to serve the rapidly growing telecommunications industry for three decades, possesses activity value for its association with that activity.
