First Baptist Church, one of Calgary’s earliest religious congregations, has been valued as a pivotal institution for the city’s Baptist community since 1888. (Institution Value, City Wide Significance)

First Baptist Church, designed by DS McIlroy, is a finely crafted and richly decorated expression of the Gothic Revival Style. The highly intact church is among the best examples of the style in the city. (Style Value, City Wide Significance)

A well-known place of faith which has grown together with the community of Connaught, First Baptist Church is symbolic of the early mixed use neighbourhood. (Symbolic Value, Community Significance)

Since 1912 the church’s tall spire, picturesque architecture and corner setting opposite Central Memorial Park, has been a highly visible and much-photographed city landmark. (Landmark Value, City Wide Significance)
